leather details are trending for fall #fashion

When I think about leather, I can’t help but flashback to the episode of Friends where Ross decides he’s going to be edgy and throws on some leather pants – if you haven’t seen it, you really should. So many LOL’s, but anyway… As I mentioned in Monday’s post, leather details are a big trend this fall season. And even if you, unlike Ross, don’t want to commit to an all leather look, this trend can still work for you.

There are so many leather accented pieces, in every price range I might add, out there for you to choose from. In the graphic above, the faux leather trimmed joggers (#2) and the sleeveless top (#9) are both from Forever 21 and are super affordable. For those willing to spend a little more, I really love the burgundy top (#5), the navy pencil skirt (#11), and the striped moto leggings (#6 – I own these and they are fab!). It’s a little pricier, but I’ve officially put the Kate Spade sweater (#10) on my wish list, as well as this Vince pencil dress (not shown above but linked below).

Which are your favorites?

Falling for Plaid

Plaid is trending this fall season #fashion

1. Mackage coat // 2. Goodnight Macaroon sweater // 3. J. Crew flats, I also like these in plaid // 4. Rag & Bone skinny jeans // 5. Zara scarf // 6. H&M scarf // 7. Equipment tee // 8. Manolo Blahnik pumps // 9. Madewell top // 10. Rag & Bone pencil skirt // 11. Rails top // 12. Kate Spade purse (can’t find a good link but it’s out there)

Since I can’t quite yet wear some of these fabulous fall trends I’m seeing everywhere (you know, given the fact that we’re still experiencing 90+ degree temperatures here in Austin), I really enjoy doing these weekly roundups of my favorite trendy pieces for y’all. After all, just because we can’t wear them yet doesn’t mean we can’t start buying!

I’ve already shared my favorite floral finds and some sparkly embellished pieces that are great for fall, and today we’re falling for plaid. There are so many timeless plaid patterns out there – like the Burberry check or Scottish black watch tartan – that I have always loved to incorporate into my cold weather style. If you’ve never worn this pattern before, have no fear as it’s pretty easy to style. Whether your look is more classic or you like things a bit more edgy, plaid can work for you.

A plaid top like the Rails button up (number 11) can be worn in a classic way with some high-waisted bootcut jeans, a nice leather belt, and pumps. Or you could front-tuck it into a pair of distressed jeans and throw on a pair of chucks and a moto jacket for a look that’s edgy yet chic. And don’t be afraid to mix patterns! I just ordered those J. Crew flats (number 3), and I can’t wait to pair them with a striped shirt under a puffy vest or an anorak jacket. One more piece of advice – don’t wait too long to purchase your plaid scarf of choice (like number 5 or 6) this fall! Last year Zara had one that I wanted so badly, but it sold out before I could snag it. Regrets.

As you can see, the possibilities really are endless when it comes to plaid. Mix a little of this lovely pattern into your wardrobe this fall season.

trending fall 2014 embellishments

One thing’s for sure – the fall 2014 season is full of amazing trends that I can’t wait to wear. Last week I showed you some of my favorite fall floral finds, and this week we’re adding some sparkle to the blog! Yay! It’s all about embellishments today. I’ve been seeing these sparkly items all over the place and have compiled some of my favorites for you in the graphic above.

The jeweled anorak jacket (number 10) is on my wish list. Anorak style jackets in general are very popular right now, so adding that little bit of bling to the collar makes it just that much better. I’m also loving that Topshop tee (number 2), and at only $58, it’s completely reasonable. If you’re looking to splurge a bit, the Tory Burch scarf (number 3) would be a good contender as you can wear it all fall and winter long.

If I had to pick the one trend I’m most excited about for the upcoming fall season, it’s definitely florals. Perhaps not so coincidentally, it was also my favorite print this spring and summer, but honesty, I’m just not over it yet. I love that this girly pattern is transitioning from bright and punchy into more moody and subdued tones for the soon to be brisk weather. There’s so much great stuff out there right now, but here are just a few of my favorite fall floral finds. (And if you couldn’t tell from the graphic, I particularly love this rose print from Kate Spade… so gorge!)
