If you’re anything like me, you’ve always got a J. Crew wish list. They’re constantly coming out with new items that I just have to have. Unfortunately, we are living in real life and not my dream world, so buying everything I want just isn’t a responsible option. What I can do, however, is share my wish list with all of you! That way maybe you’ll buy something that you just have to have, and I can be happy knowing that you saw it on this blog first. We all win.
So, here’s a peek at my current J. Crew wish list. First, I am so happy that high waisted jeans are back in vogue. Not only are they flattering and classy, but they’re so much more comfortable. Now, about that coat. I actually own last year’s version of it, and oh it is so chic. You will not regret that decision. I’m currently crushing on the aubergine color option. Finally, if there’s one thing on this list I will probably purchase for myself, it’s those plaid loafers. Despite their unique pattern, I actually think they’re very versatile.
I rented this colorful Parker maxi dress from Rent the Runway for a wedding event and couldn’t have been happier with it. The colors are just gorgeous in person – pinks and purples and reds – so pretty. Like I said, I wore the dress to a wedding-related event, but this dress would be absolutely perfect to pack away with you on vacation. Especially if you’re going somewhere tropical or to the beach. I mean, can’t you just envision yourself drinking a Mai Thai or a Strawberry Daiquiri while wearing this?! Since the dress was so bright, I chose this nude Zara bag to go with it. This bag was my first Zara purchase, and I’m very impressed with the quality.
If you do decide to rent the dress, I would order a size down as it runs large.
If I had to pick the one trend I’m most excited about for the upcoming fall season, it’s definitely florals. Perhaps not so coincidentally, it was also my favorite print this spring and summer, but honesty, I’m just not over it yet. I love that this girly pattern is transitioning from bright and punchy into more moody and subdued tones for the soon to be brisk weather. There’s so much great stuff out there right now, but here are just a few of my favorite fall floral finds. (And if you couldn’t tell from the graphic, I particularly love this rose print from Kate Spade… so gorge!)
(Also, if you don’t want to pay the money to buy the Trina Turk jumpsuit, it is available to rent at Rent the Runway here.)
As I mentioned in my Trip Guide to the Texas Hill Country, I went with some girlfriends for dinner and drinks in Austin a couple weeks ago for my cousin’s bachelorette party. I wasn’t quite sure where the night would take us, so I wanted my “going out” look to be versatile and bachelorette party appropriate. To me, a jumpsuit is such an easy and chic way to look the part on 6th Street. I chose this simple Trina Turk number and slipped on my LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s strappy sandals for a bit of a High-Low combo, which I do often. Turquoise jewelry looks great with almost any color, especially navy, so this Kendra Scott necklace (worn previously here) was a natural fit. The last item I’ll mention is that Vince Camuto cuff bracelet, which is in my top 3 favorite jewelry items I own. It’s affordable and well-made, and I promise if you snag it that it will quickly become a staple item for you.
Can I just take a moment to say that I love my city?! There’s truly no place in the world like Austin, Texas. David and I have so much fun enjoying everything the city has to offer, and lately I’ve been eyeing the folks having fun kayaking on Lady Bird Lake (which runs right alongside downtown). This Saturday we finally made it over to the Rowing Dock and each rented a kayak – although they also offer other options if kayaking isn’t your thing. I really don’t know why it’s taken us so long to try this out, but we will definitely be back when it’s not so hot outside. If you’ve got adventurous family or friends coming into town, this is a really unique way to show them Austin. It’s pretty much a guaranteed good time if you ask me. There aren’t too many pictures of my outfit in this post – sorry about that – we were just having too much fun without the camera! For this little adventure, I chose a lightweight, floral print romper. Thankfully, I thought to bring along this Michael Stars hat because it was extremely functional on this extremely sunny and hot day (in addition to being super cute of course). Hope you enjoy your Monday!
